Here's the thing: we're not even 100% sure what movie this is. The synopsis talks about Scottish architects and church towers, but 'New in Town' 2009 is actually a Renée Zellweger rom-com about Minnesota. That's a pretty big mix-up.
Either way, this is a thoroughly forgettable 2009 movie that's aged about as well as a flip phone. The 6.9 IMDb rating tells you everything - it's the definition of 'fine, I guess.' Not terrible, not good, just... there.
For families, this isn't really on the radar. Kids will be bored, teens will roll their eyes, and even parents might struggle to stay engaged. It's the kind of movie you half-watch while folding laundry, then forget you ever saw it.
If you're building a quality watchlist for your family, skip this one. There are dozens of better options from the past 15 years that have actually held up.
