This is what you put on when your 10-year-old wants to watch something 'cool' but you're not ready to hand them the Stranger Things remote. It's harmless, occasionally amusing, and completely forgettable—which is both its strength and weakness.
The vampire babysitter premise had potential, but this is very much a product of early 2010s Disney Channel factory production. The acting is serviceable, the effects are cheap, and the humor is... well, it's there. IMDb's 7.1 suggests the target demographic enjoyed it well enough, which tracks—kids in 2011 probably had a blast.
The problem is we're not in 2011 anymore. The show feels dated in ways that make it hard to recommend enthusiastically. The pacing, the jokes, the whole vibe screams 'before streaming changed everything.' Modern kids raised on higher-budget Netflix shows and YouTube content may find this painfully corny.
That said, if your kid is in that sweet spot where they want spooky content but you're not ready for actual horror, this could work. It's safe, it won't give anyone nightmares, and it models decent friendship. Just don't expect them to binge it or ask for a rewatch. It's background noise that keeps them entertained for 22 minutes while you make dinner.
