This isn't just another celebrity vanity project. Because Mark Kelly actually lived this life, the book feels grounded in reality while still being fun.
It’s a solid pick for any kid currently obsessed with rockets or 'small hero' stories. It’s clean, smart, and actually teaches them something about how NASA works without feeling like a textbook. If you're tired of reading books that feel like they were written by an AI or a marketing committee, this series is a breath of fresh air.
Perfect for the 4-to-8 crowd. It’s simple enough for a preschooler to follow but has enough real science to keep a 2nd grader from rolling their eyes.
It's a story about a tiny underdog—literally a mouse—finding his place in a high-stakes environment. It emphasizes bravery and the idea that being small doesn't mean you're useless. The tone is encouraging without being saccharine.
Mixing real-world NASA tech with mouse-sized adventures is a great hook. It invites kids to look at the night sky and wonder about the actual logistics of living in a tin can orbiting Earth.
Zero red flags. There is no hidden 'adult' humor, no scary imagery, and no questionable subtext. It is exactly what it claims to be: a book for children about space.
Since it's written by a literal astronaut, the space facts aren't just fluff. It introduces concepts like microgravity and asteroid defense in a way that sticks because there's a mouse involved.
