Meet Cute has a fun elevator pitch—time travel to engineer your perfect partner!—but fumbles the landing. The film spends way too much time letting the protagonist stalk, manipulate, and rewrite someone's entire trauma history without sufficient pushback, then tries to tack on a 'just kidding, that was bad!' message at the end.
The ratings tell the story: 5.7 on IMDb, 2.6 on Letterboxd, 58% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a forgettable entry in the rom-com canon that doesn't earn its quirky premise. If you're looking for a thoughtful exploration of acceptance and healthy relationships, look elsewhere. If you're just killing time on a plane, maybe—but even then, you could do better.
