This is one of those pleasant surprises where a licensed mashup actually delivers substance. It's a legitimate tactical strategy game that happens to star Mario and those chaotic Rabbids, not just a cash-grab with their faces slapped on.
The turn-based combat genuinely requires thinking—positioning matters, cover matters, team synergy matters. Kids are actually building executive function skills while saving cute star creatures. And blessedly, Ubisoft resisted the urge to stuff it with microtransactions or battle passes.
The main caveat is that it's not for everyone. If your kid needs constant action and explosions, they'll find this boring. If they can't handle losing a battle and having to retry with a different strategy, frustration awaits. But for the right kid—one who likes puzzles, planning, or Pokemon-style team building—this is a solid, parent-approved choice that actually respects both their intelligence and your wallet.
