Here's the deal: critics gave this 85% because it's technically competent—good production values, decent acting, holiday cheer. But audiences gave it 48% because it's just... fine. Forgettable. Generic teen holiday rom-com #847.
It's perfectly safe for teens, with wholesome themes about connection and friendship wrapped in a Christmas bow. But the low audience scores across multiple platforms (5.9 IMDb, 2.5/5 Letterboxd) tell the real story: even its target audience found it bland.
If your teen loves cheesy holiday rom-coms and you need something harmless to throw on during winter break, sure. But don't expect anyone to remember it by New Year's. There are better teen holiday movies out there, and there are better teen rom-coms. This one just exists in the middle, doing nothing particularly wrong but nothing particularly memorable either.
