Super Smash Bros for the Elementary Set
Most multiplayer platform fighters are landmines for elementary-age kids. Either they require pinpoint frame-data execution that leads to tears, or they come wrapped in open voice channels full of teenager salt. LEGO Brawls strips those problems away by design.
Matches run as 4v4 objective control or free-for-all chaos. Controls are deliberately minimal: attack, jump, and activate power-ups like chicken suits or pie launchers. The simplicity keeps the entry floor low enough that a six-year-old can contribute to a team victory without needing a tutorial on combo breakers.
Customization Over Microtransactions
The genuine hook here is the minifigure builder. Winning matches unlocks studs that open chest tiers containing torso prints, hair pieces, legs, and themed gear. Because the game launched on Apple Arcade before porting to consoles and PC, there is no real-money currency store sitting on the main menu. Kids earn their gear by playing, not by asking for a credit card.
Where It Falls Short
The tradeoff for simplicity is repetition. After three or four hours, the combat reveals its shallow ceiling—you are mostly mashing the attack button and jumping onto platforms. Older kids used to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or MultiVersus will bounce off the lack of tactical depth pretty quickly. Treat it as a fun couch co-op pick for younger kids rather than a long-term competitive obsession.
