Larva Island is the kind of show that makes you wonder if Netflix's algorithm is trolling you. Two grubs, no words, just slapstick and an unrelenting stream of fart gags. Some kids find it hysterical; some parents find it borderline inappropriate. The truth is somewhere in the middle: it's not harmful, but it's also not good.
The gross-out humor is the entire point, which means if your kid giggles at bodily functions, they'll be entertained. But there's no story, no character growth, no cleverness—just pratfalls and gas clouds. Common Sense Media's age-10 recommendation feels like a polite way of saying 'this is too dumb for younger kids and too crude for sensitive families.'
It's available in Kids mode, so Netflix thinks it's fine. But parent reviews are a battlefield, with some calling it innocent and others saying they'd give it zero stars if they could. If you're looking for something to keep the kids quiet for 10 minutes and you don't mind explaining why we don't fart on purpose, sure. Otherwise, there are better options.
