Here's the thing: critics loved it (90%!) but actual viewers gave it 43%. That massive gap tells you everything you need to know—it's well-made but boring. It's the kind of show that looks good in trailers, has nice cinematography, and checks all the 'prestige TV' boxes, but ultimately doesn't land.

The premise of running from problems instead of facing them isn't exactly inspiring, and the fish-out-of-water romantic plot is about as original as a Hallmark movie. Sure, there's some value in seeing multi-generational family dynamics and cultural immersion, but there are way better shows that do this without being a slog.
