The dog from Superman, in his own cartoons
Krypto was the breakout character of James Gunn's 2025 Superman, a white dog with a red cape who ignores every command. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation spun him into a series of shorts, and the first one, School Bus Scuffle, premiered on YouTube on August 13, 2025, two days before Superman reached digital release.
School Bus Scuffle: one pigeon, one determined dog, and a school bus about to have a bad morning.
Every short runs on the same engine
Krypto wants something: a pigeon, a black cat on Halloween, a holiday package that smells interesting, his lunch back from the beach animals. He goes after it at full superdog speed, the city pays for it, and he ends up rescuing someone from the trouble he started. There are no words, so the jokes live in faces, timing and the scratchy, textured drawing style, which looks closer to a picture book than to most superhero cartoons.
Coastal Catastrophe opens as a quiet beach day. The seagull has other plans.
Season 2 goes to space
Space Busted!, released September 10, 2026, starts a second season with Supergirl as Krypto's companion. She takes him to a dog park in space, and the bounty hunter Lobo turns up for a moment. It is still slapstick, still silent, and still about five minutes.
Where it fits
For kids 3 to 8, this is an easy yes. It sits closer to Shaun the Sheep than to the older Krypto the Superdog series, which had talking pets and villains. Kids who want more Krypto when they are older can graduate to Superman, a better fit for 9 and up.
