Look, Kickin' It is perfectly safe and has all the wholesome Disney Channel values you'd expect—friendship, teamwork, standing up to bullies, martial arts discipline. Common Sense Media says age 7, and that tracks.
But here's the reality: this show is from 2011, and it feels every second of those 14 years. The laugh track is relentless, the acting is cartoonishly exaggerated, and the humor is peak early-2010s Disney Channel cringe. If your kid stumbles on it on Disney+, they're not going to be traumatized, but they're also probably not going to make it through a full episode unless they're really into that retro Disney Channel vibe (some kids are!).
The martial arts angle is the most interesting thing about it, and there are genuine positive messages about practice, respect, and loyalty. But the execution is so formulaic and dated that it's hard to recommend when there are so many better options available now. If your 8-year-old is obsessed with it, fine—it's harmless. But don't go out of your way to introduce it. There are far better ways to spend 22 minutes.
