Screenwise Verdict

Jusant is the perfect antidote to the 'brain rot' of loud, colorful, microtransaction-filled mobile games. It is a quiet, confident indie title that respects the player's intelligence and time. It doesn't demand 100 hours of your life; it just wants to show you a beautiful view and a clever mechanic.

For parents, it's a dream. There's no violence, no chat rooms, and no pressure to buy a battle pass. It’s just a kid, a rope, and a very tall mountain. If you want to show your child that games can be art—or just a relaxing way to spend a rainy afternoon—this is the move.

Age Fit

Perfect for ages 7 and up. The 'E' rating is accurate, but the manual climbing controls require a level of fine motor coordination that might frustrate a 5-year-old. It's a fantastic 'co-pilot' game for parents and kids to solve together.

WISE Breakdown

Wholesome

It is a rare, combat-free experience centered on a quiet journey and a symbiotic relationship with a small nature spirit. No villains, no violence, just the wind and the rock.

Imaginative

The manual climbing system—mapping your triggers to your actual hands—is a brilliant piece of tactile design. The world-building is evocative, using environmental cues and letters to tell a story of a lost civilization.

Safe

Purely single-player with zero microtransactions, social features, or manipulative loops. While you are climbing thousands of feet up, your safety rope ensures there is no 'death' or gore—just a reset to your last anchor.

Enriching

Encourages spatial reasoning and incredible patience. It is a 'slow' game that rewards observation and deliberate movement over twitch reflexes.

Why It Might Be Great

Tactile mechanics that make you feel every grip and reach by using the controller triggers as your character's hands.
Zero-stress exploration where you cannot actually die; a safety rope always catches you if you slip.
The Ballast, a tiny, adorable watery companion that helps you interact with nature to grow vines and clear paths.
Environmental storytelling that lets kids piece together a mystery at their own pace without being shouted at by cutscenes.

⚠

What to Watch For

The pacing is intentionally slow. If your kid is used to the high-octane chaos of Fortnite, they might find the first 20 minutes boring before the rhythm clicks.
Some of the stamina-management puzzles require genuine focus and might be frustrating for younger players who just want to hold 'up' to win.

Conversation Starters

"Why do you think all the people left this tower in the first place?"
"Does the climbing feel more 'real' when you have to control each hand separately?"
"How does the game make you feel when you finally reach the top of a really hard section?"
"What do you think the relationship is between the climber and the little water creature?"
