Screenwise Verdict

This is a solid family game night pick if you've got Jurassic Park fans in the house. The semi-cooperative structure is genuinely smart—younger kids can team up with parents on the human side while someone plays the dinosaurs, which makes it more accessible than the 10+ rating suggests.

The catch? Multiple reviews confirm the dinosaur player has way more fun than the humans. That asymmetry can work if you rotate roles, but if your kid always wants to be the T-Rex, someone's going to feel shortchanged. The game does what it sets out to do—recreate movie tension through chase mechanics—but it's not going to blow your mind mechanically.

BGG rating of 6.1/10 tells the story: it's fine. Good for fans of the franchise, decent for introducing asymmetric gameplay, but there are stronger options in this weight class if you're not specifically seeking dinosaur content. If your family's into Jurassic Park, grab it. If not, you might want something with more balanced player experiences.

Age Fit

Officially 10+ for strategic complexity, but the semi-cooperative structure means kids as young as 7 or 8 can play on the human team with a parent's help. Appeals to Jurassic Park fans and families looking for asymmetric gameplay, though teens and adults might find it too light for repeated plays.

WISE Breakdown

Wholesome

Semi-cooperative gameplay encourages teamwork among human players working together against the dinosaur player. The asymmetric structure (one vs. many) creates natural collaboration without being preachy. Game captures movie tension without graphic content—dinosaurs hunt humans but it's all abstract tokens and cards. Parent reviews confirm it works well for family play, though the dinosaur player tends to have more fun than the humans, which could create some imbalance in repeated plays.

Imaginative

Modular board with hexagon grid and programmed movement creates different scenarios each game. The asymmetric gameplay (controlling dinosaurs vs. escaping humans) offers two distinct strategic experiences. Thematically immersive—you're literally recreating iconic Jurassic Park moments. However, it's fundamentally a chase game with limited creative expression beyond tactical choices. BGG weight of 2.2 puts it in medium-light territory, so there's strategic depth without overwhelming complexity, but it's not breaking new ground mechanically.

Safe

Board games are inherently safe, and this one has no red flags. Theme is dinosaurs hunting humans but it's entirely abstract—no graphic imagery, just tokens moving on tiles. The asymmetric structure could create frustration (Reddit review notes humans have 'relatively little payoff'), but that's standard competitive tension, not toxic dynamics. Age 10+ rating is appropriate for the strategic complexity, not content concerns. No gambling mechanics, no problematic social dynamics beyond normal competitive play.

Enriching

Teaches strategic planning through programmed movement and hand management. Human players learn cooperation and resource management; dinosaur player practices area control and tactical positioning. The asymmetric gameplay exposes kids to thinking from different perspectives. 50-minute playtime is reasonable for sustained focus. However, it's primarily entertainment—there's skill-building in the mechanics, but it's not particularly deep or educational beyond basic strategy. BGG rating of 6.1/10 with 1,400 ratings suggests it's decent but not exceptional.

Why It Might Be Great

Semi-cooperative structure lets younger kids team up with parents against the dinosaur player, making it accessible below the 10+ recommendation
Captures the tension of the movie without gore or graphic content—just strategic cat-and-mouse gameplay
Quick 50-minute playtime hits the sweet spot for family game night without overstaying its welcome
Modular board creates variety across plays, and asymmetric roles mean you can try both sides
Teaches cooperation, strategic planning, and thinking several moves ahead

⚠

What to Watch For

The dinosaur player consistently has more fun than the human characters—Reddit and parent reviews confirm this imbalance
Human players might feel less agency and payoff, which could frustrate competitive kids who don't draw the dino role
BGG rating of 6.1/10 suggests it's decent but not a standout in the board game world—fine for Jurassic Park fans, but not essential

"What would you do differently than the characters in the movie to survive?"
"Was it more fun being the dinosaurs or the humans? Why do you think one side felt more powerful?"
