Iron Flame is what happens when adult fantasy romance gets a YA label slapped on it—and parents are rightfully confused. The fantasy worldbuilding is solid, the dragon-rider premise is fun, and readers who are ready for it genuinely enjoy the series (that 4.7 Amazon rating isn't a fluke).
But let's be clear: this has explicit sex scenes, graphic violence, and themes dark enough that a 14-year-old self-selected out of reading it a year earlier. Reddit and Facebook parent groups are full of "please don't give this to your 10-year-old" warnings, and they're right.
If you have a 16-17+ who loves fantasy romance and you're okay with mature content, this could be a hit. But if you're looking for actual young adult fantasy that younger teens can read? Look elsewhere. This is adult romantasy that wandered into the wrong section of the bookstore.
