Look, Irish Wish is the kind of movie that makes you understand why people complain about Netflix's content strategy. With a 1.9/5 on Letterboxd and 41% on Rotten Tomatoes, this isn't just 'not great'—it's actively bad.
The premise is fine: magical wish, romantic mix-up, pretty Ireland. But the execution is so formulaic and uninspired that even the target audience of rom-com fans couldn't muster enthusiasm. This is the movie equivalent of eating cardboard—technically safe, completely bland, and you'll forget about it immediately.
Is it wholesome? Sure. Safe? Absolutely. But is it worth 94 minutes of your life? The data screams no. If your tween is begging to watch it because they saw it on Netflix, fine—it won't hurt them. But don't expect them to remember a single thing about it a week later, and definitely don't plan to watch it with them unless you enjoy the sweet embrace of boredom.
There are dozens of better rom-coms that hit the same wholesome notes while actually being, you know, entertaining.
