Innerspace is a perfectly fine 1987 adventure-comedy that parents remember fondly and kids will shrug at. The miniaturization concept is cool, the effects won an Oscar, and it's safe family viewing—but let's be honest, it's old. The humor is broad 80s slapstick, the pacing drags, and the Cold War spy subplot is confusing for anyone born after 2005.
Martin Short does his manic-neurotic thing, Dennis Quaid is charmingly cocky, and Meg Ryan is there. It's harmless, mildly educational about anatomy, and won't traumatize anyone. But unless your kid is unusually patient with retro media or you're doing an 80s movie night for nostalgia reasons, this is a tough sell in 2025.
