This is social-emotional learning done right—no lectures, just a ridiculous tornado having feelings and a cow who gets it. Beckmeyer nails the balance between teaching emotional vocabulary and keeping it funny enough that kids don't feel like they're being taught.
The metaphor is clever without being heavy-handed, and the fact that it weaves in actual science about how tornadoes form is a bonus. It's the kind of book you'll reach for on those days when your kid is melting down and you need a gentle way to talk about what's happening inside their body.
Not groundbreaking literature, but it doesn't need to be. It's a solid, sweet tool for the parenting toolkit that kids will actually want to read multiple times. The 4.6 Amazon rating and consistent praise from reviewers tracks—this one delivers what it promises.
