Hotel Transylvania 2 is that reliable animated sequel that does exactly what it says on the tin—colorful monsters, family hijinks, and a message about acceptance. It's not going to blow anyone's mind, but it won't traumatize them either.
The core story about Dracula's old-fashioned father clashing with his more progressive family is actually pretty solid. The 'accept your kid for who they are, even if they're half-human' message lands well without being preachy. Plus, watching an ancient vampire learn to chill out about his grandson's identity is weirdly relatable for any parent dealing with generational differences.
That said, it's a 2015 sequel with all the energy and noise that implies. The animation is bright and bouncy, the jokes come fast, and it's designed to keep kids entertained for 89 minutes. Mission accomplished, but don't expect Pixar-level depth. It's perfectly fine entertainment that your kids will enjoy and you won't hate sitting through. Sometimes that's exactly what you need on a rainy Saturday.
