Hotel for Dogs has its heart in the right place—compassion for animals, sibling teamwork, scrappy resourcefulness—but it's a by-the-numbers kids' flick that critics and audiences agree is just okay. The premise is charming, but the execution is predictable and sometimes saccharine.
