If your teenager is watching High School DxD, you should know exactly what category it belongs to: this is the flagship title of the modern "ecchi" genre. The premise follows Issei Hyodo, an ordinary perverted high schooler who gets murdered on a bad date, gets revived as a devil by an elite demon named Rias Gremory, and decides his life goal is to assemble a harem.
To give the show credit, its supernatural power system is surprisingly structured. The devil ranks operate on literal chess mechanics, and the mythological turf war between heaven and the underworld has actual lore behind it. But nobody watches this show for the geopolitical diplomacy of the underworld. It is built from the ground up to showcase bouncing breasts, torn uniforms, and teenage boy fantasies.
There is no ambiguity here. Depending on which streaming platform or cut is playing, the show features full, uncensored female nudity in nearly every episode. For older teens who know the tropes and laugh at the absurdity, it is a known quantity; for anyone expecting a standard fantasy adventure, it will be a startling shock.
