This is Gordon Ramsay at his best—curious, humble, and genuinely interested in learning rather than yelling at people. It's a solid National Geographic travel-food show that happens to star a celebrity chef.
The educational value is real: kids learn about indigenous cultures, traditional foodways, sustainability challenges, and global geography. The show treats local experts with respect and gives them the spotlight, which is refreshing. Ramsay's willingness to look foolish while learning new skills is actually a great model for teens.
That said, it's not sanitized. You'll see animals being hunted and butchered in traditional ways, Ramsay will drop the occasional F-bomb, and some cultural practices might be unfamiliar or uncomfortable. The 14+ rating feels right—younger kids won't have the patience or context, but teens and adults who are into food or travel will find it genuinely engaging.
It's entertaining enough to hold attention but educational enough to feel worthwhile. Not groundbreaking television, but a solid choice for family viewing with older kids.
