Good Eats is legitimately great television that teaches real science through cooking. Alton Brown is the Bill Nye of food, and the educational value is off the charts. The problem? It's now 25+ years old, and it shows.
The production quality, pacing, and cultural references scream late-90s/early-2000s Food Network. For kids who love cooking or science and can look past the dated aesthetic, this is gold. For kids used to TikTok-speed content and 4K production, it'll feel like watching something from the Paleolithic era.
If your kid is already asking 'why' questions in the kitchen or loves experimenting, Good Eats is worth introducing. But don't expect it to compete with modern cooking YouTubers for pure entertainment value. It's more 'show your kid a few episodes to see if they vibe with it' than 'binge-worthy series they'll devour.'
