The Sports Fan's Cable Replacement
Fubo started its life as a soccer-streaming service, and that DNA still runs deep. If your household revolves around the sports calendar, this app is likely your best bet. It manages to bundle the niche regional sports networks (RSNs) that many other streamers have dropped, making it one of the only ways to watch your local MLB or NBA team without a traditional cable box.
From a technical standpoint, the interface is slick. The 'dedicated sports navigation' actually works, and the unlimited DVR is a massive perk for anyone who can't be home for a 4:00 PM kickoff. It feels like a premium product designed for people who take their hobby seriously.
The Parental Control Gap
Here is where the wheels come off for intentional parents. In the current streaming landscape, we expect a basic set of guardrails. Fubo has a 'Kids Mode,' but it's more of a UI skin than a security feature. PCMag noted in late 2025 that the lack of robust parental controls is a significant downside. You can't effectively 'walled garden' this app for a seven-year-old.
If you're using Fubo, you're buying it for the sports, and the kid-friendly channels are just a bonus. But because you can't lock out the news or more mature on-demand movies, it's an app that should live on the living room TV, not on a tablet in a kid's bedroom. It’s a great tool for co-watching the big game, but it's not a 'set it and forget it' solution for kids' entertainment.
