Disney did not just slap cartoon costumes on a touring troupe and call it a day. Frozen the Musical takes the animated script, beefs up the orchestration, and layers in some of the sharpest practical stage illusions touring the country.
The real test here is physical sitting stamina rather than content appropriateness. The material is fundamentally the familiar animated story, but in an auditorium with sharp lighting cues and sudden boom effects, the icy peril hits closer to home than it did on an iPad. For kids who can handle a full-length theatrical production with an intermission, it is a blast.
