Screenwise Verdict

If your kid is the type who spends more time looking at player stats and transfer rumors than actually playing soccer, this is their holy grail. Football Manager 2025 is basically 'Accounting: The Game,' but with more cheering and higher stakes. It’s a brilliant exercise in logic and resource management.

Because this version is locked behind a Netflix subscription, it’s one of the few 'safe' mobile games left. There are no ads, no 'gems' to buy, and no social media hooks. It’s just you, your tactics, and a massive database of players. It’s the smartest sports game on the market, period.

Age Fit

Best for ages 10 and up. It requires a lot of reading and the patience to navigate deep menus. Younger kids might find the lack of direct 'on-field' control frustrating.

WISE Breakdown

Wholesome

It's professional sports management. The focus is on leadership, team building, and meritocracy. There's no locker room drama or unsavory content—just the grind of the beautiful game.

Imaginative

While it's a realistic simulation, the 'imagination' comes from the alternate history you create. Finding a 16-year-old in South Korea and turning them into a global superstar is a creative narrative exercise.

Safe

Because it's tied to a Netflix membership, it's free of the typical mobile game garbage like predatory ads, loot boxes, or 'pay to win' mechanics. It's a clean, single-player environment.

Enriching

This is stealth learning at its best. It requires high-level data literacy, budget management, long-term strategic planning, and a surprising amount of global geography and reading comprehension.

Why It Might Be Great

Data literacy is the core gameplay; kids learn to interpret complex stats and scouting reports to make decisions.
Long-term thinking is rewarded, as player development takes seasons, not minutes, to pay off.
Global perspective is baked in, introducing kids to leagues, cities, and cultures across the world.
No microtransactions thanks to the Netflix model, meaning success is earned through strategy, not a credit card.

⚠

What to Watch For

The 'one more game' loop is incredibly strong; it’s easy for a quick session to turn into a three-hour marathon.
It is extremely text-heavy and slow-paced; kids looking for the fast-twitch action of EA FC (formerly FIFA) will be bored to tears.

Conversation Starters

"What's your strategy for staying under the wage budget while still signing a star player?"
"How do you handle a player who is unhappy with their playing time?"
"If you were scouting for a new defender, which three stats would you look at first?"
"Do you think the women's teams require a different tactical approach than the men's teams?"
