Extra Credits is legitimately educational YouTube—rare praise around here. It's thoughtful, well-researched, and treats games as worthy of serious analysis. The animated format makes dense topics accessible, and 10+ years of archives mean there's depth.
That said, it's still YouTube. Even the best educational channels contribute to the endless scroll problem, and the algorithm doesn't care if your kid watches thoughtful game design essays or mindless gameplay compilations next. The 2019 controversy shows they occasionally stumble into hot-button topics with mixed results.
For a teen who's obsessed with games and ready to think critically about them? This is gold. For a younger kid who just wants to watch Minecraft videos? They'll bounce in 30 seconds. It's niche, it's smart, and it's actually enriching—but it's not going to compete with MrBeast for attention, and that's probably a good thing.
