Let's be absolutely clear: Euphoria is not for kids, not for teens, and honestly not for a lot of adults.
Yes, it's visually stunning. Yes, Zendaya can act. Yes, some teens do face addiction, trauma, and mental health crises. But this show takes every difficult topic and dials it to 11, adds graphic nudity and sex scenes, throws in some violence and self-harm, and wraps it in neon lighting.
The biggest problem? It's ABOUT high schoolers while being completely inappropriate FOR high schoolers. That's a recipe for teens feeling like they need to watch it (FOMO is real) while being exposed to content that's genuinely harmful. Parents report kids as young as 12-13 watching because 'everyone at school is talking about it.'
If you're an adult interested in artistic, challenging television and can handle intense trigger content, fine. But this absolutely doesn't belong on a list of recommendations for families. The WISE score reflects that—it fundamentally fails the wholesome and safe criteria, and while there's artistic imagination, the enrichment value is questionable when the delivery is this traumatizing.
If your teen is asking to watch: hard no. If they've already watched it: time for a serious conversation about what they saw and how it made them feel.
