Encore! is a sweet, feel-good show that's genuinely safe for family viewing—a rarity in reality TV. The premise is charming: watching adults nervously fumble through the musicals they performed decades ago hits all the nostalgic, vulnerable, heartwarming notes.
That said, this is pretty niche. If your kid isn't already into theater or musicals, they're going to find this about as exciting as watching someone else's home videos. It's also very much designed for adults and older kids who can appreciate the 'where are they now' angle and the bravery of putting yourself out there when you're no longer 17.
The WISE scores are solid—it's wholesome, safe, and models good values around vulnerability and community. But it's not particularly imaginative or deeply enriching for viewers. You watch, you smile, you move on. It's comfort TV, not must-see TV.
If you've got a theater kid aged 10-16, this could be a fun family watch. Otherwise, it's probably going on your 'maybe someday' list.
