Dav Pilkey remains the undisputed king of the 'gateway drug' to literacy. Dog Man: Big Jim Begins is exactly what the series needed—a look back at how a character finds their path.
It’s funny, it’s chaotic, and it’s surprisingly full of heart. While it won't win a Pulitzer for high literature, it wins the much more important battle: getting your kid to put down the tablet and pick up a book. If you can stomach a few fart jokes, it’s a total win.
