Cruel Intentions is the ultimate 'don't let the kids see this' movie from the turn of the millennium. It is glossy, well-acted, and deeply toxic. While it’s a fascinating cultural artifact for adults who grew up in the 90s, it’s a hard pass for a family movie night.
If you're watching it today, the technology (pagers!) and some of the gender politics feel dated, but the core story of narcissistic rich kids playing with people’s lives remains surprisingly sharp. Just keep it on your 'after the kids go to bed' list.
