Code Black is the spiritual successor to the early seasons of ER. It ditches the 'who is sleeping with whom' drama that killed the medical genre for a while and focuses almost entirely on the medicine and the madness of a busy county hospital.
It’s not for the faint of heart, and it’s definitely not a 'relaxing' watch. But for families with older teens who appreciate a show that treats its audience like adults, it’s a high-quality procedural that actually has something to say about how we treat the sick and the people who care for them.
