The Ministry of Magic, from the inside
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry opened with Universal Epic Universe on May 22, 2025, in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic. The land starts in a 1920s wizarding Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films. The ride entrance is a Paris Metro station, and the queue sends you through a Floo fireplace into the 1990s British Ministry, with its tiled atrium and golden statue.
The story picks up after Voldemort's defeat. Dolores Umbridge is on trial, Harry, Ron and Hermione are there as witnesses, and then she escapes. Riders board Ministry lifts and chase her through the building with the trio and a house-elf named Higgledy. Kingsley Shacklebolt appears, Death Eaters including Yaxley and the Carrows try to stop you, and an Erumpent crashes through one scene. Kids who know Order of the Phoenix will know why Umbridge is the villain everyone wants to see caught.
How the ride moves
Each lift holds 14 people and rides on a robotic arm attached to a track, so it can rise, drop, slide sideways, tilt forward and back, and spin. Big projection screens fill in the action between physical sets, and no 3D glasses are needed. It lasts about four minutes. Reviewers compare the intensity to Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure, and the most common complaint is motion sickness from the screen scenes.
Planning it with kids
The minimum height is 40 inches, and riders from 40 to 48 inches need an adult with them. A test seat sits at the entrance, and a child swap room lets one parent wait with a child who can't or won't ride, then switch. Express Pass and a single rider line are both available.
It is the park's most popular ride. Waits hit five hours on opening day and often sit around 100 minutes, so ride early or late. The Universal Orlando app shows current waits, and the Epic Universe guide covers the rest of the park.
