Joel Schumacher's 1997 superhero disaster is legendary for all the wrong reasons. It killed the Batman movie franchise for nearly a decade until Christopher Nolan rescued it, replacing dark gothic grit with neon paint, rubber bat-nipples, and a script composed entirely of freeze puns.
As a serious piece of filmmaking, it is abysmal. Yet for an intentional family movie night with middle schoolers, it functions surprisingly well as high-camp comedy. If your kid enjoys MST3K-style commentary and laughing at ridiculous silver-age comic tropes, throwing this on with a bowl of popcorn offers plenty of laughs.
