This is Bruce Timm doing what he does best—atmospheric, stylized Batman—but aimed squarely at teens and adults rather than kids. If your 14-year-old is into detective stories, moral complexity, and can handle darker content, this is a solid choice with real substance.
That said, it's not appointment viewing. The 7.2 IMDb suggests it's good but not great, and the noir styling means it's more of a mood piece than an edge-of-your-seat thriller. Perfectly fine for the right audience, but don't expect it to compete with the best of prestige TV.
Bottom line: If you're looking for family superhero time, stick with Spider-Verse or early Marvel. If your teen wants something grittier and you're okay with mature content, this delivers quality Batman without being gratuitously edgy.
