Let's be real: this is a direct-to-video spin-off of Anastasia that nobody asked for and almost nobody remembers. The animation is budget-tier, the story is paint-by-numbers, and the audience scores tell the tale—a 46% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.1 on IMDb means even generous viewers shrugged.
It's not bad in a harmful way—it's perfectly safe, mildly wholesome, and introduces some Russian folklore. But it's also deeply forgettable and dated. If your kid stumbles across it on Hoopla and wants to watch, fine, it won't hurt them. But there's zero reason to seek this out in 2025 when you could watch literally any Pixar, DreamWorks, or even modern Disney Channel movie instead.
The WISE score reflects reality: this is a relic that's hard to recommend with a straight face unless you're a completist parent who watched Anastasia 47 times in 1997 and need closure on what happened to the bat.
