Look, Barbie: Princess Adventure is technically fine. It's safe, it's colorful, it has songs, and it won't traumatize anyone. But here's the thing: even Barbie fans seem to hate it.
With a 37% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.6/10 on IMDb, this is one of those direct-to-streaming movies that feels like it was made by an algorithm. The 'princess switches places' plot has been done to death, the songs are forgettable, and the 'be yourself' message is delivered with zero nuance.
If you need 72 minutes of completely safe background noise for a preschooler, sure, throw it on. But don't expect them to ask to watch it again, and definitely don't expect to enjoy it yourself. There are so many better Barbie movies out there—and frankly, so many better kids' movies period. This one's a skip unless you've literally exhausted every other option on Netflix Kids.
