This 2023 reboot (officially Something New) is the cinematic equivalent of a warm blanket. It's a prequel, so you don't need to know the previous eighteen movies to follow along. It replaces the original star with Skyler Samuels, who does a great job playing a younger, post-college Aurora trying to find her footing.
It’s not 'prestige TV,' and it’s definitely not edgy. But in an era where every mystery seems to involve a serial killer and a dark basement, there’s something genuinely refreshing about a show where the biggest stakes are a ruined wedding and a town secret. It's a solid choice for a multi-generational movie night where you don't want to worry about awkward scenes popping up.
