If you are an intentional parent, this is the only streaming box you should consider. Every other major player—Roku, Fire TV, even Google TV—has turned their home screen into a billboard for whatever studio or snack brand paid them the most. Apple TV is the only one that still treats the TV like a tool for the user, not a revenue stream for the manufacturer.
It’s expensive, but you’re paying for the privilege of not being the product. The parental controls are integrated, the 'Kids' profiles are easy to swap into, and the lack of clutter makes it much easier to guide a kid toward high-quality content rather than letting them get sucked into the 'infinite scroll' of a cluttered interface.
