Animal Crackers has a legitimately fun premise—who wouldn't want magic cookies that turn you into animals?—but it lands squarely in 'fine, I guess' territory. The reviews tell the story: critics gave it a mild pass, audiences were slightly warmer, but that 5.8 IMDb and 2.5 Letterboxd rating? Ouch.
It's safe, it won't rot anyone's brain, and it might buy you 90 minutes of peace. But there are dozens of better animated family movies on Netflix that are just as safe and actually, you know, good. This one had a troubled production (sat on a shelf for years) and it shows.
If your kid is deep in an animal phase and you've exhausted better options, sure, queue it up. Otherwise, keep scrolling.
