This is the 'diet' version of Game of Thrones in the best way possible. It’s grounded, focused on a single knight and his squire, and actually cares about things like chivalry and common decency. If your kid is itching for epic fantasy but isn't ready for the HBO-level trauma of the main series, this graphic novel is the perfect middle ground.

It’s a story about a guy who has nothing but his word and a very tall frame. It’s refreshing to see a story in this universe where the stakes are a small patch of land or a single person's dignity rather than the end of the world. It makes the characters feel human and the consequences feel real.

Best for kids 12 and up. It’s the perfect 'bridge' book for middle schoolers who want the street cred of reading George R.R. Martin without the more extreme adult content of the main series.
