Toy Story 3 is Pixar firing on all cylinders—it's funny, thrilling, gorgeously animated, and emotionally devastating in the best way. This isn't just a kids' movie; it's a meditation on mortality, purpose, and letting go that happens to star talking toys.
That said, it's INTENSE. The incinerator scene genuinely scared me as an adult, and Lotso is a properly menacing villain with real psychological depth (abandonment, betrayal, choosing bitterness). Younger or sensitive kids might need to skip this one or watch with lots of parental support and maybe a strategic bathroom break.
But for kids ready for bigger emotions? This is gold. It teaches that growing up means things change, that we can choose generosity over selfishness, and that love means sometimes letting go. Andy's final scene with Bonnie will wreck you, but in that good cathartic way that helps kids process their own transitions.
Still holds up perfectly in 2025—no outdated penalty here. This is essential family viewing, just maybe not for your most sensitive 4-year-old.
