Look, this is a made-for-TV movie from 2006, and it shows. The 49% Rotten Tomatoes audience score and 2.9/5 Letterboxd rating tell you everything: even when it came out, people thought it was just okay. Nearly 20 years later, it's aged like milk.
The premise is fine—nerdy librarian goes on Indiana Jones-style adventures—and it's safe, wholesome family content. But modern kids raised on Marvel, Pixar, and high-budget streaming shows will find this painfully slow and cheap-looking. The action is tame, the jokes land with a thud, and the whole thing feels like a SyFy channel afternoon filler (because that's essentially what it was).
If you've got a 9-11 year old who's into adventure stories and isn't picky about production quality, sure, throw it on. But honestly? There are dozens of better family adventure options that won't feel like homework. This isn't bad enough to be memorably terrible or good enough to be worth your time. It's just... there.
