Here's the truth: The Great Muppet Caper is perfectly wholesome, totally safe, and has that classic Muppet charm. The problem? It's 44 years old and feels every bit of it.
The pacing drags, the jokes land softer than they did in 1981, and kids who grew up on Bluey's seven-minute dopamine hits are going to fidget through the musical numbers. The production looks like what it is—a low-budget '80s puppet movie shot in London.
That said, if you're a Muppet household or doing a retro family movie series, it's harmless fun with decent ratings (78% on RT, 7.1 on IMDb). Just don't expect it to hold attention like modern family films. It's more "put this on during a lazy Sunday and see if anyone stays" than "must-watch classic."
The WISE fundamentals are solid, but the watchability penalty is real. Your call whether nostalgia outweighs the fact that your kids will probably ask to switch to something else halfway through.
