The Flash had a genuinely promising start—Grant Gustin is charming, the found family dynamic works, and the show's optimistic tone set it apart from grittier superhero fare. Seasons 1-3 are solid popcorn entertainment with heart.
But here's the thing: this show ran for NINE seasons, and it absolutely did not need to. By Season 4, you're watching the same emotional beats, the same 'Barry loses his speed' plot, the same 'team keeps secrets' drama on endless repeat. The villain quality nosedives, the time travel logic becomes incomprehensible, and the melodrama reaches soap opera levels.
For teens who want accessible superhero content, the first few seasons are fine. But as a whole package? It's a slog. The declining quality, repetitive storytelling, and sheer time investment required make this a hard recommend unless you're already invested in the Arrowverse. There are better superhero shows that respect your time more.
If your teen wants to watch, maybe suggest they tap out after Season 3 and pretend that's the finale.
