The A Kids Co. Vibe
If you aren't familiar with the A Kids Co. brand, they specialize in 'the talk.' They take massive, often intimidating topics—racism, climate change, divorce—and speak directly to kids about them. The Activators is one of their more upbeat offerings because it focuses on the solution side of the equation.
Why it works
Hosted by Leo, the founder of Dance for Justice, the show has immediate peer-level credibility. Kids listen differently when the person behind the mic is their own age. Each episode is a deep dive into a specific 'activator' and their project.
Take Sammie Vance, for example. Her story about turning recycled plastic into buddy benches for playgrounds is the perfect entry point for younger kids. It’s concrete, it’s visual (even in audio), and it’s something they can see the results of at their own school.
The 'Dead Feed' Reality
The show hasn't updated since 2021, and with only 11 episodes, it's more of a limited-series audiobook than a recurring podcast. Don't expect a weekly habit here. Instead, treat it as a curated collection of stories. It’s the kind of media that rewards a 'listen and then go do something' approach.
If your kid finishes this and wants more, you'll likely have to pivot to other A Kids Co. shows or look for specific kid-led YouTube channels, but The Activators is the cleanest, safest starting line for the civic-minded kid.
