Sonic 3 is exactly what it says on the tin: a fast, colorful, family-friendly action romp that your kids actually want to see (as opposed to that 'classic' you're trying to get them to appreciate). The franchise has found its groove—Jim Carrey hamming it up, CGI hedgehogs learning life lessons, and enough video game references to keep the fans happy.
Shadow's introduction adds a slightly edgier vibe, and the 'mysterious villain with unmatched powers' setup suggests this might be a touch more intense than the previous entries. But we're still firmly in PG territory with cartoon action and positive messages about teamwork and unlikely friendships.
The real question is sequel fatigue—by movie three, are we still having fun or just going through the motions? The 7.6 TMDB rating suggests audiences are still on board. It's solid entertainment that won't rot anyone's brain, teaches some decent lessons, and gives you 110 minutes of peace. That's a win in my book.
