If you want to introduce your toddler to Quentin Blake's recognizable illustrations without exposing them to the mean factory owners and dark humor of Roald Dahl's actual chapter books, this slide-and-seek board book works well.

It is a classic novelty board book through and through: thick cardboard pages, mechanical sliders to push, and flaps to lift as the Small Foxes search for Fantastic Mr Fox. It doesn't attempt to tell the novel's story, functioning instead as a tactile fine-motor toy for small hands.
