WISE Score
A murder-linked duo spends a single, frantic night trying to outrun a maniacal cop and the toxic wreckage of their own pasts.
Nowhere Fast looks like a bleak, high-tension dive into the crime genre. If you are looking for a feel-good evening, this isn't it. It is a story about murder and desperation.
It is the kind of movie you watch when you want a gritty thriller, but definitely keep the kids out of the room for this one. The focus on systemic corruption and 'maniacal' behavior makes it a heavy lift for anyone not looking for a dark, R-rated experience.
This is strictly for the 17+ crowd. Between the murder and the 'toxic lives' description, it is adult-oriented crime fiction that will be too intense and cynical for younger viewers.
The plot centers on murder and characters trapped in 'toxic lives.' It is the opposite of the pro-social, kindness-modeling content usually found in high-scoring wholesome titles.
It follows a fairly standard crime-thriller setup—a chase through a single night—which offers some narrative tension but doesn't necessarily push creative boundaries.
With a 'maniacal cop' and murder as the starting point, expect high levels of violence, peril, and likely heavy language. Not appropriate for children.
Might offer some ethical exploration of desperation or systemic corruption for adults, but provides little developmental value for younger audiences.
Nowhere Fast leans heavily into the 'one bad night' trope popularized by films like Good Time or After Hours, but with a much more violent, crime-focused edge. The premise of two people bound by murder trying to outrun a corrupt officer suggests a cynical world where the law is just as dangerous as the criminals.
For adults who enjoy high-tension cat-and-mouse games, this might hit the spot. It promises a claustrophobic feel as the characters try to escape not just a person, but the 'toxic lives' they have built. However, for a Screenwise audience, the utility here is mostly as a 'what not to watch' for family night. There is no indication of redemptive arcs or pro-social messaging—this is a genre piece designed to keep your heart rate up and your outlook grim.
If your older teen is a fan of modern noir, this could be a conversation piece about cinematic tension and the 'anti-hero,' but for most families, this is one to skip in favor of something that doesn't start with a murder and end with a maniac.
