If you’re looking at a brand-new set from the store, it’s a 10/10 toddler staple. These toys are virtually indestructible and do more for a kid's social imagination than any 'educational' app ever will. They are the perfect tool for practicing 'please,' 'thank you,' and 'the cow says moo.'
However, if you are looking at the actual 1959 'Safety School Bus' or any of the original peg-style figures from your childhood, keep them on a high shelf. Those original 1950s-1980s pieces are literal choking hazards and often coated in lead paint. For modern kids, stick to the chunky versions made after 1991—they're easy on the motor skills and actually safe to chew on.
