Here's the deal: Krypton had an interesting premise—exploring Superman's grandfather on a doomed planet—but it never quite figured out what it wanted to be. It's too dark and violent for younger superhero fans, but too uneven and derivative for adults who want prestige sci-fi.
The 6.8 IMDb rating and 69% audience score tell the story: critics were more generous than actual viewers. It got cancelled after two seasons, leaving storylines hanging. Unless your teen is a die-hard DC universe completist, there are way better superhero shows to invest time in.
The world-building is decent and it tackles themes of legacy and redemption, but the execution is mediocre Game of Thrones-lite plotting without the payoff. Plus, it's stuck on DC Universe, which most families don't subscribe to. Skip it unless you've literally exhausted every other superhero option.
